I pass this salon on my way to work. It's been there as long as I can remember, but I hardly ever see anyone in there. I always wonder how they pay the rent. If you look carefully, that's me reflected in the glass and also in the mirror inside the salon.

The National Weather Service said there was a 2.2-foot surge in Santa Monica and a 3-foot surge in Ventura. The Ventura County Sheriff's Department reported minor damage at Ventura Harbor from several buoys washing away.

In Santa Barbara, we had about a two-foot tidal surge yesterday -- no damage here, fortunately, but it certainly has people talking and "sharing experiences".
